Public servants recruited from 1 January 2013 onward are members of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme (“Single Scheme”), and they can find further information at

Public servants recruited before 2013 belong to sector-specific pension schemes, e.g. civil service, HSE and teacher schemes. While these “pre-existing” (i.e. pre-Single Scheme) schemes may share strong similarities, each nonetheless has its own rules. Public and civil servants seeking information relating to their own pension entitlements are advised to contact their local HR or pension administrator, rather than the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform. Their local HR/pensions administrator should have the individual details required to respond appropriately. The Public Service Pensions Policy Unit in the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform is a central policy unit and is generally not in a position to respond to individual queries.
