Monday was Cabinet Committee Day. Minister Howlin and officials attended Cabinet Committees on Economic Recovery and Jobs, Construction 2020, Housing, Planning and Mortgage Arrears, Economic Infrastructure and Climate Change, Social Policy and Public Service Reform, and Justice Reform.

The Government Meeting will take place on Tuesday at 10.15 a.m.

The Dáil and Seanad return on Tuesday, 22 September.

The Management Board meeting will take place on Tuesday and Secretary General Watt will attend a meeting of the Civil Service Management Board on Thursday.

The Department has a number of Written Parliamentary Questions tabled for ministerial reply this week. Issues include the Strategic Investment Fund, the Lansdowne Road Agreement, pensions, procurement and the Regulation of Lobbying Act.

On Wednesday, Ambassador Carlos Garcia de Alba will pay a courtesy visit to Minister Howlin in advance of the Minister’s attendance at the Open Government Partnership Global Summit which will take place in Mexico on the 27th, 28th and 29th of October. This event will be opened by the Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto and will be attended by leaders, ministers, heads of multilateral organisations, international foundations, civil society organisations and research institutions.

On Thursday, Secretary General Watt will attend a council meeting of the Institute of International and European Affairs at their offices in Dublin.

The Economic Management Council (EMC) will meet during the week with the
Taoiseach, Tánaiste, Minister for Finance, and Minister for Public Expenditure
and Reform to discuss a wide range of issues.

On Friday, Minister Howlin will perform the official opening of Southend Family Resource Centre in Maudlintown.
