The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Martin Sisk to the Interim Public Sector Procurement Board. The Board provides advice to Government on public procurement matters, oversees the implementation of Government’s procurement reform plan and oversees the role of the OGP.

Mr Sisk has been appointed following an open process undertaken through the Public Appointments Service.  Mr Sisk held a number of roles previously in the civil and public service including senior roles in the Central Bank and as Registrar of Friendly Societies, and he retired from the Central Bank in 2010.  More recently Mr Sisk completed terms of office as Chairman of the VHI and as President of the Irish League of Credit Unions.

The role of external Board members is important in underpinning strong governance arrangements and bringing external expertise to complement the expertise of the public service. The Government’s procurement reform plan offers significant opportunity to deliver better value for money for the taxpayer, consistent implementation of policy and reduced risk for the State.  Mr Sisk’s appointment adds further depth and experience to the Board.  His previous appointments in the areas of regulatory and corporate governance will greatly assist the Board in its role.
