This morning Minister Howlin opened “Simon Week”. The Simon Communities in Ireland are a network of eight regionally based independent Simon Communities based in Cork, Dublin, Dundalk, Galway, the Midlands, the Mid West, the North West and the South East that share common values and ethos in tackling all forms of homelessness throughout Ireland, supported by a National Office.

 

Today, Minister Howlin will met European Commissioner for Regional and Urban Policy Corina Creţu to discuss the implementation of Ireland’s regional and cross-border Structural Funds programmes, including the PEACE Programme.

 

The Government Meeting will take place on Tuesday at 10.15 a.m.

 

The Government’s Capital Plan 2016-2021 for infrastructure investment will be launched on Tuesday.

 

On Tuesday evening, Minister Howlin and departmental officials will attend a Cabinet Committee on Health.

 

The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform is scheduled to take Oral Parliamentary Questions (PQs) on Thursday, 1st October at 9.30 a.m. We have 26 Oral PQs and 14 Written PQs tabled for the Department. Issues include recruitment, FOIs, Shared Services, the Capital Expenditure Statement, Pensions, Public Sector Reform, Procurement and the Budget.

 

On Wednesday, Minister Howlin will make pre budget statements in the Seanad.

 

Secretary General will attend the Ireland/UK Summit of Permanent Secretaries/Secretaries General in Dublin Castle on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

On Thursday, Minister Howlin will give the keynote address at the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Annual Conference in Croke Park.

 

On Friday, the end-September Exchequer Returns will be published.

 

The Economic Management Council (EMC) will meet during the week with the

Taoiseach, Tánaiste, Minister for Finance, and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to discuss a wide range of issues.
